If these tracks are anything to go by, the future of MUMDANCE is big. The branches remix especially is huge. It kinda conjures up imagines of a hell dark and underground club full of zombie like people dancing for hours and hours on end. the vocals on this track haunt me, they are kinda hollow and spaced out and are placed perfectly on top of that wobbling bass line.

Jake from Action Dj's sent me over this mix he's done exclusively for us at Polaroid Noize. I had a listen to it this morning and I'm loving it. Action have some big gigs coming up, The Social Club are launching there first party at Berlin Lounge on September 19th and the Action Dj's will be supporting the likes of Lillica Libertine from the UK, CSK OK from Sydney, FASHION with a gun & Wongo. The Social Club also have another party planned with Strip Steve (Boys Noize Records) playing and Action will also be supporting. This is only a few of the big things happening for Action at the moment with much more planned for the future.

Surecut Kids are Junior Kid and Kid Kaos, A couple of dj’s from the Gold Coast. Surecut Kids have been around for a little while now, I’ve seen them play a handful of times and they are always some of the most entertaining dj’s to listen to, With use of four turntables they produce some very interesting stuff, using scratching and turntablism as their mixing techniques.

They play all different genres of music from hip-hop, funk, rock, breaks, swing, dance, 80s and the list goes on. I swear if they didn’t even have a crowd to play to they would still jump around and enjoy themselves just as much. I think this comes down to the fact they just love what they do. It’s their own sound that has set them apart from the pack.

i've been hassling local producer/dj Wongo for some tunes to post for a while now because i am a huge fan of his fidget house style. so he sent over a couple of tracks for us to have a listen to. the first one is his massive remix of the monkey beats tune get up, which is set to be released on 12" next month on monkey beats music, make sure you get a copy. the second track is just as massive, its called untitled and has no release prospects as yet but has had good support from brazilian funk hero Edu K.

also if you live in melbourne be sure to check out wongo at the moist mouth launch party on august 22 @ the warehouse.

two aids to this comfort quest are valium and music. the right dose of valium and the right selection of music along with a darkened room, soft pillow, headphones allow all opportunity for space out comfort.

so pop some valiums and give raw man a listen. it works for me.

Who's Action Dj's?
Couple of kids from the Gold Coast, super stoked on the status of the Australian music scene at the moment with influences coming from Sydney and Melbourne. Started putting together a couple of live mix sets for friends. Got heaps of positive feedback from everyone on the first couple so decided to make them a semi regular thing!

What they've done?
Got a bunch of mixes complimented with a hugely unexpected amount of downloads on each. Had their first gig with Van She Tech and Miami Horror at a local club event on the Gold Coast called First Kiss over the Labour Day weekend and are playing with the Lost Valentinos, Soft Tigers and Infinity Sound on May 24th at the Cooly Hotel (Flyer pictured above).

It's funny how your mood changes your taste in music. This week i've been fucking flat out and its left me tired as the little old grannies i push around the hospital. Being tired has been added to my current (and already too long) list of things that are pissing me off or getting to me. Uni is on the top of the list, followed closely by traffic, my lack of motivation for anything, money or apparent lack thereof, the weather, working too much, my persistent headache, petrol prices and a whole list of trivial things that wouldn't bother me if i wasn't such a grumpy fuck.

Stemming from my incessant lack luster attitude for all things right now is my growing taste for minimalism. Somehow the dark and basic and real repetitive bass lines and stripped back beats leave me rather soothed and kinda just numb. I'm getting lost in this music, and when i come back to earth im stressed even more because i snap to the realisation i just wasted about an hour doing fuck all when my report is due in hours. Life is grand. So what I'll do is send you over to STEALMYBURGER's myspace where you can download his late licence mix. Haven’t posted anything in ages so I thought why not put something up that I’ve been listening to a fair bit and that is the movie soundtrack Steak made by SebastiAn, Mr Oizo and Sebastien Tellier. It’s a sweet selection of tracks from the crazy and random movie Steak made by the man himself Quentin Dupieux aka Mr Oizo. Prince Umberto & the Sister of ill is the name of the Bumblebeez latest album. Its pretty crazy, it covers all types of music over the 16 tracks; from hip-hop to acid dance and everything in-between. I’ve had it on repeat since I bought it, lots of basey bass lines and catchy vocals. Its definitely music you can dance around too, fun fun fun. My favourite songs would have to be Clubb Clubb, Black Dirt, Dr love and Rio at the moment but the whole albums growing on me and would be probably hard to pick favourites in a few weeks time. 2 days of music!!

I could sing sing sing alllll day day day about all the splendid music music at splendour splendour splennnnnndour.

Saturday songs started with muscley MUSCLESSSSS. WOOOOO AAHHHH. WOOOO AHHHH.
And im sure he drove more than one, One Inch Badge Pin through the hearts of the multitude of beautiful ladies in the crowd. Although im pretty 100% positive his chantings of peace love ecstasy in new album track 'Sweaty' were not ignored by most in Byron as was evident from the constant screams of I love you man around the place. And with the release of Muscles debut LP Guns Babes Lemonade only a couple of months away, his set was delivered most wonderfully and is sure to invite album sales in the millions. Well we hope so anyway. Heres a taster.....

Keeping with the 'M' theme and album release theme (how convient I guess), Sunday saw Melbourne indie/electro heroes MIDNIGHT JUGGERNAUTS do some more damage to an already tender crowd with an amazing set coinciding with the launch of their debut lp dystopia. From mount Kosciusko to midginbill hill and back to Munich, the whole world currently loves the juggernauts right now. And why shouldn’t they with music as tasty as this...

mmm I seem to have run out of themes already, so I guess Saturday will have to be revisited. In particularly the magic carpet ride and a journey that will never be forgotten that was HOT CHIP. Who ever thought that a bunch of geeks from England with oxford educations and thick-rimmed glasses (and I mean no disrespect whatsoever) could make music that was almost the highlight of the weekend. From My Piano to an encore driven although probably pre planned over and over, hot chip were simply awe inspiring, bringing this avid listener and thousands of others who also ignored muscles advice to their knees in aural listening pleasure. Keyboards, bongos, maracas, synths, a guitar and my personal favourite the cowbell were used to build unbelievably unbelievable songs that did nothing but making everyone smile and dance and clap and laugh and just feel really good about themselves.

One cannot forget to mention the closing of Saturday with a dj set from aussie favourites LOST VALENTINOS dj crew 'KNIFE MACHINE'. Knife Machine had everything a man, woman or child could have wanted from a dj set. Bullshit music, a crowd idiot you love to hate, good looking girls, djs who had fun and interacted with the enthusiastic crowd, and some really cool effects. Song of the night could have been SebastiAns remix of rage against the machines classic killing in the name of. But for sentimental beauty and fitting in with the anything but lost valentions theme the award should probably go to the bagraiders mix of kafka which was played with much energy late in the Knife Machine set.

The beginning of Sunday saw a lot of tired bruised and still fucked up but still charging people take on the mix up tent for a set from triple j unearthed winners of the past the Bumblebeez. Most of the crowd would no doubt have been present to catch hit single dr. love, and the Bumblebeez did not fail to impress with the song played last amongst on stage fancy pants dancers and some help from the crowd. Heres a Bumblebeez remix of Down Down Down by The Presets. WOOOOOO!!

The close of Sunday saw two of the world’s hottest bands right now deliver perfect (or as close as can be) sets to the already satisfied splendour crowds. Bloc Party and the Arctic Monkey's were nothing but incredible. If the weekend wasn't already good enough for some people these two bands would have changed that and finished off an awesome and splendid weekend with amazing music. Lets just say the helicopter was swinging. haha. or not.

So a just over a week on from the close of best splendour ever (as declared by the event promoters and party goers alike), people are in pain. From broken eardrums to broken hearts and flu's and fistfights it is safe to say what a weekend. The best ever in fact. And we all can’t wait to do it again in 2008!!!!!

Justice have surprised us with a remix of there own song, they don’t mind confusing people B.E.A.T was thought to be there remix of the original D.A.N.C.E track, maybe they have got sick of hearing it getting played none stop since it was realised and wanted a change. WELFARE

We agree with Mac-Attack-Jack when he says that welfare is taking over the world. On a recent and reluctant visit to palm beach we snapped this little Polaroid amongst hordes of people lined up outside the suburbs major amenity – The Centrelink Office. As far as the eye could see people were lined up to collect their government cheques. Drunken veterans were waiting for their pension (to spend on the finest no doubt), dole bludging surfers couldn’t wait for the weeks wax supply and in between uni students were looking for their hard earned free money.

The one thing that this majority of palm beach locals had in common this day was the smiles on their dials when they walked out of the centrelink doors, some may have been missing teeth but that doesn’t detract from the fact that welfare can make you happy.

Inspired from this we’ve decided to hand out some welfare of our own to all the government reliant people out there.
