ACTION

Who's Action Dj's?
Couple of kids from the Gold Coast, super stoked on the status of the Australian music scene at the moment with influences coming from Sydney and Melbourne. Started putting together a couple of live mix sets for friends. Got heaps of positive feedback from everyone on the first couple so decided to make them a semi regular thing!

What they've done?
Got a bunch of mixes complimented with a hugely unexpected amount of downloads on each. Had their first gig with Van She Tech and Miami Horror at a local club event on the Gold Coast called First Kiss over the Labour Day weekend and are playing with the Lost Valentinos, Soft Tigers and Infinity Sound on May 24th at the Cooly Hotel (Flyer pictured above).

What they're doing?
Working on upcoming gigs and producing! Got some original tracks and a remix in the pipeline, and will definitely keep the mix sets coming! Currently working on a mix compilation for sponsors - up and coming fashion brand Rockaway NYC.

ELECTRIC FEEL

Whoever made these clips must be slightly tripping. i love it.

TIME TO PRETEND

The guys from MGMT make some pretty sweet music, I stumbled across the music video for Time To Pretend, it's quite interesting, who ever made it obviously smokes a lot of wilson or is on way to much acid or neither. Anyway have a peak if your Internet connection speed hasn’t slowed down to much from a huge month of downloads.

NEW STUFF

So ive stolen this photo from old mate bronques over at lastnightsparty and done some mad photoshop work on it. im kidding, but seriously i wonder if he'll sue me seing as its copyrighted and all haha.

anyway the music. this has got to be the catchiest tune around at the moment. hailing from salford in the north of england like, the ting tings play some pretty upbeat fun music.

ive got some goodies for you in original and remix form.

The Ting Tings - Thats Not My Name sorry link was fucked but i fixed it

The Ting Tings - That's Not My Name (Soul Seekerz Dirty Dub Vox)

The Ting Tings - Thats Not My Name (Tom Neville Remix)

bag raidinnnnn

last night. the bag raiders were choc fucking mint. sick tracks and sick mixing alll night. and they have sooo much fun. christopher brave is the man. nothing but good news really.

oh and they dropped this bomb. and i swear ive never seen a mass of people react so crazily to a track. if you haven't heard it, you'll know why when you do...

DJ DLG - Paramount (Rogerseventytwo Remix)

AVATAR

its fair to say my body hates me. too much beer, too much bourbon, way too much coffee, loud noises, late nights, early mornings, no exercise, a little too much sugar, and all in the last 48 hours has left me quaking at my computer like a feeble nosed wombat.

its also fair to say it was all worth it but. i got the end of my week, and i got my hang over and i got to listen to some good music. gameboy/gamegirl were fucking sick. and tranter is a loose man, who in a few years may find his weight and party habits could land him in some strife with the heart department....but whatever.

this is a little mash up tranter made of radioclit and michael jackson. he posted it up on havefunclub a while back but yeah its cool.

Tranterco - Divine Mike (Radioclit vs. Michael Jackson)

oh and the teenagers are playing in brisbane on june 12th. thats pretty exciting. this is a track they wrote after some 19 year old chick named nicole wrote to them saying they were really shit. or something like that anyway.

The Teenagers - Fuck Nicole

WOO. NOT.

It's funny how your mood changes your taste in music. This week i've been fucking flat out and its left me tired as the little old grannies i push around the hospital. Being tired has been added to my current (and already too long) list of things that are pissing me off or getting to me. Uni is on the top of the list, followed closely by traffic, my lack of motivation for anything, money or apparent lack thereof, the weather, working too much, my persistent headache, petrol prices and a whole list of trivial things that wouldn't bother me if i wasn't such a grumpy fuck.

Stemming from my incessant lack luster attitude for all things right now is my growing taste for minimalism. Somehow the dark and basic and real repetitive bass lines and stripped back beats leave me rather soothed and kinda just numb. I'm getting lost in this music, and when i come back to earth im stressed even more because i snap to the realisation i just wasted about an hour doing fuck all when my report is due in hours. Life is grand. So what I'll do is send you over to STEALMYBURGER's myspace where you can download his late licence mix. It's pretty amazing, and i never thought i'd be the one advocating minimalism in a public forum. So take what you will from that.

And for those of you that aren't so wrecked and still have a bit of life left in you here is a remix by Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve aka Erol Alkan aka GOD of a track called happiness which is originally by Goldfrapp.

AFTER PARTY

Pic: Ness

A couple of weeks back I went up to elsewhere for the V fest after party, Gus da hoodrat played and I was also lucky enough to see K.I.M. from the presets there. It was an awesome night; Gus da hoodrat played a huge set with some really fun music and K.I.M. Jumped on a few times and played some songs off the new presets album.

Here are a few remixes by Gus da hoodrat and a new remix by K.I.M. of This Boy’s In Love by The Presets.
Enjoy.

Bumblebeez - Rio (Knife Machine vs Gus Da Hoodrat Remix)

THINGS ARE LOOKING FORWARD

I'm pretty sure all who go to uni will agree with me when i say its fucked. and now with mid-sems on the way, uni life just got even more fucked. but i suppose we've still got our social lives to keep us sane. and with a nice healthy social life, comes good music. and the one thing that hopefully will keep us happy through all this is the music.

Our first break from uni is the bumblebeez playing both live and playing a dj set this saturday (the 12th) as a part of their national tour.

Bumblebeez - Dr. Love (Edu K Baile Funk Remix)

April 19th gives us some really fun times from melbourne in the form of the gameboy/gamegirl cd launch with a miami horror dj set as well.

Gameboy/Gamegirl - Pumps And Rumps (Zombie Disco Squad Remix)

Backing up from that will be a sneaky visit from the bagraiders supported by G.L.O.V.E.S. on the 24th of april. the bag raiders are up there in the australian and i think world ranks for their ability in producing, remixing and djing, and this night should rank up there with one of the best!

Supermal - Bigger Than Big (Bagraiders Remix)

Moving into may now, we have a visit from van she tech supported by miami horror for some more dancing on may 4. the same night also brings us kissy sell out all the way from the UK as a part of a ministry of sound tour.

Kissy Sell Out - Let There Be Blazing Light

Utah Saints - Something Good (Van She Tech Remix)

And just to cap off a hectic few weeks of uni exams and aussie music, huge in japan is bringing us a massive party by french power houses institubes on may 9, supported by everybodies favourite dj ajax!!!

Ghostface Killah - Charlie Brown (Orgasmic Remix)

FUCK YEAH!!! Miami Horror has just released his latest, and i think best remix. Fa Fa Fa by Datarock. its all time synth heaven; just another one of those songs that makes you smile.

Miami Horror will be back on the coast on April 19 for the Gameboy/Gamegirl Ep release promo tour. lets hope theres a better turn out this time then the last time he was up!

i've chucked in a couple of his older remixes as well for a little more fun.

Datarock - Fa Fa Fa (Miami Horror Remix)

Grafton Primary - You Think I Can Cook (Miami Horror Remix)

Faker - This Heart Attack (Miami Horror Remix)

WOOO!!!

FRIDAY

so its friday. the happiest day of the week. and ive got two songs here that make me so happy it hurts.

the first is an oldie by aussie favourites, the avalanches.

The Avalanches - Since I Left You

and this one is a relatively new (i think) remix by moulinex.

When Saints Go Machine - You Should Be Someone Else (Moulinex Remix)

GET ME ON MY

This songs been around for a little while now, I first heard it on a mix Annie Mac had done for Mixmag Magazine called Brings The Noise, and loved it ever since. Its sweet because it’s had some remixes done recently which freshens it up a bit. I'm loving the A-Trak remix the most at the moment, but still loving the original of course.
F@#k I wona get a beeper! Good times.

Sinden & Count Of Monte Cristal - Beeper (Original Mix)

Sinden & Count Of Monte Cristal - Beeper (Gaetan Remix)

Sinden & Count Of Monte Cristal / Blaqstarr - Beeper (Shake It Down)

Sinden & Count Of Monte Cristal - Beeper (Fake Blood Mix)

Sinden & Count Of Monte Cristal ft Kid Sister - Beeper (A-Trak Remix)

JUSTICE - D.V.N.O.

i watched the video clip for Justice - D.V.N.O. directed again by So Me. and its pretty fucking cool - just like all the shit justice and so me do i guess. have a looksy.
